Teigan’s Modern Apprenticeship Progress

Teigan ScobbieTeigan Scobbie joined the College in April 2019 as a Modern Apprentice within the ISLT Team. She started on a two year programme with our partners, QA, with the aim to achieve an SCQF Level 8 qualification in Information Technology and Communications Professionals which, along with her two years’ experience working in a busy IT department, will provide her with great building blocks in her career.

Teigan is now almost halfway through her apprenticeship and has recently achieved Level 6, which is great reward for her hard work, dedication and willingness to learn during her time at the College. You will normally see Teigan as the happy, welcoming face when you enter the ISLT Helpdesk.

ISLT Manager Scott Moncrieff said:

“Teigan has been a great addition to the team and indeed the College since she joined us. As well as the traditional helpdesk duties, we get her involved with many of the projects the team undertakes to ensure she gets a full understanding of the type of work IT perform and the effect it has on the staff and students we support.

"She has a great attitude to her work as well as communication skills, which are ideally suited to working on a busy helpdesk. I am sure if she continues to work hard and continue learning the way she has been then she will have a great future ahead in the world of IT.”

Teigan says:

“Since starting at the College last April, my knowledge of IT within and outwith the College has increased massively. Learning hands-on in a working environment has really helped me understand how and why different IT processes are used to assist the students and staff at the College. Working one to one with different staff roles in the department has helped me see all the different sides to IT and provided me with all the information and experience I needed to get though my Level 6.

"I’m looking forward to working to gain my Level 8 in my second year, by working more independently and on a bigger range of projects, along with my chosen courses in the next 12 months.”
